Pro Bono Indiana, Inc. (PBI) provides training and volunteer opportunities for attorneys and other legal professionals so they can help low-income Indiana residents get access to justice through pro bono legal advice, information, and assistance.
In XXX, the Indiana Supreme Court issued an order creating a web of XX regional pro bono districts to serve the individuals living in those districts.
In January, 2020, ten of these districts merged to form Pro Bono Indiana, Inc. PBI now offers pro bono programming and legal services in XX Indiana Counties.
PBI receives most of its funding from programs administered by the Indiana Bar Foundation, including Indiana's Interest on Lawyers’ Trust Accounts (IOLTA) Program, Indiana's Civil Legal Aid Program, and the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA). We also receive funding from various other federal, state, and private grants, as well as individual donations.
PBI is recognized as a charitable organization under IRC 501(c)(3).
PBI is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of judges, private attorneys, and other access to justice advocates.
